Canadian Forces Snowbirds Photos!

Hello All!
In honor of the CNE Airshow this weekend I have decided to put some of my photos of
the Canadian Forces Snowbirds!
This particular photo was taken at the Muskoka Airshow!

The rest of these Snowbird photos were taken at Lake Simcoe Regional Airport.

I have been very fortunate to able to be out on the runway at LSRA when the Snowbirds have been taking off and airriving for the airshows in the area.

You just can't imagine what it is like to be right beside these aircraft when you get 9 tutor jets taking off one right behind the other.

Just imagine the sound from these jets as they take-off into the sky do do their show in front of crowds of people.

I have also been out on the runway when a CF-18 has taken off on more than 1 occasion!
Maybe i"ll post some of those photos sometime.

Cheers Gary

Today A Few KLM B-747 Classics

Today I was looking through some of my older 4 x 6s and happened to come across these KLM B-747-200 EUDs.

I remeber someone correcting me, as I was calling these aircraft B-747-300.

The person I was talking to told me that they were actually Boeing 747-200 that had been modified with the larger upper decks.

They were actually called B-747-200EUD which stood for Extened Upper Deck!

Aug 18 2007 Splash-in!

The long awaited Orillia Aviation Splash-in happened Aug 18!

A nice day with cool temperatures brought a few more aircraft in than usual.

One aircraft I wasn't expecting to see at the fly-in was DCH-2 C-FFZM!

This aircraft is c/n 869 based in Gatineau, Quebec and is a stunning aircraft to see and photograph!

C-FFZM is seen here departing Lake St John!

Although this aircraft is a Amphip, the owner thankfully decided to land & take-off on the water which is always a sight to behold!

I would like to Say Thanks Mr Kenny for bringing C-FFZM to show for all of the DHC fans to admire.

Splash-In Cont'd

Today I am posting a few more photos of the "bigger stuff" from past splash-in's.

This beautiful Cessna 206 is a regular visitor to the splash-in.

Very impressive paint scheme!

C-FETN usually makes an appearance every year, lands on the water drops the wheels, drives up the ramp.

When ETN departs the process is reversed and then does a fly by.

C-GBUL is a "one of a kind" Beaver. A 600HP with a 4 blade prop makes this airplane a show stopper!

I met the owner at the Beaver 60th Anniversary in Downsview and he hopes to be at the Spalsh-in this year.

I hope so.

Just as a side note, today is the 60th anniversary to the day of the first Beaver DHC-2 flight from Downsview, ON!

Happy Birthday Beaver!!!! You are one of my favourite aircraft.

Some Past Splash-in Photos

Todays entry is just 3 very quick photos of past Splash-in's!

Tomorrow I turn 50 so things have been busy over the last few days.

This is a nice shot of a Stinson, with this aircraft flying up from Southern Ontario every year for the past splash-in's.

This is a beautiful 1936 (I believe) Taylor Cub.

It was pointed out to me that this aircraft's speed indicator is actually located outside the aircraft and is a piece of steel that is pushed by the wind when the aircarft is moving.

The faster the speed the more the steel moves, and the higher up the indicator it goes.

Wow!

I always find this photo funny! I am always trying to find a caption for this photo.

I think my best one so far is" excuse me sir, do you know where I can find I-75?

More floats tomorrow, if I not to partied out.

If you have any good captions for this photo please put some under the coments section!

Cheers

Gary

Busy Day at My Local Airport!

Yesterday by chance I happened to travel past my local airport first thing in the AM!

To my surprize there was 3 bizjets sitting on the ramp!

C-GPCZ was actually getting ready for an early morning departure into the perect weather.

Here you can see PCZ on her take-off roll, while the other 2 watch and wonder when it would be their turn to head out into the beautiful blue sky!

This beauty is N515JT an Embraer Legacy 600, was the first one that I have had a chance to see!

What a fine color scheme!

G-EMLI happened to be here visiting from somewhere in the U.K.

That must have been quite the haul across the pond!

This Saturday is one of my favourite events, the yearly Splash-in/fly-in! I look forward to this event every year, so I can get some graet shots of floatplanes, of all types and sizes!

The Splash-in/fly-in is in such a great spot to get excellent photographs.

I think the rest of this week I will be posting pictures from previous Splash-ins!

Enjoy!

Ontario's Air Ambulances

Today I posted some helicopter photos from the Ontario Air Ambulance Service!

I live very close to a hospital and get to see and hear these very powerful machines on a regular basis!

We owe a "Thanks" to these people who are on call 24/7 to rush us to a hospital from an accident scene, or a hospital that can't help us to one that can!

I have been right under one of these Sikorsky S-76 s on more than one occasion, and the wind generated from these is something that has to be experenced to be believed.

It is truly amazing how these pilots can land these birds in some of the places that they get into!

My "Hats Off " to you guys who fly these helicopters!

I was driving home from work one day when I saw this York Regional Police helicopter parked on the grass across the street from a police station. By luck I happen to have my camera with me, and got an opportunity to watch this chopper warm up and take off! I wouldn't want this bird looking for me!

This last photo was taken down by the waterfront (my home) where for a price you could go up for a short sight-seeing flight.

The Bell 206B helicopter belonged to Helicopters Canada # 147 C-GJVZ .

I always wondered if these floats would actually support a parked chopper on water or would they have to be sort of hovering over the water.

Tomorrow I think I will post some DC-3 photos! Stay Tuned!

Gary

My First Request!

Hello Everyone

I have had my first specific airline request for some CP Air aircraft from Johnny Wadd!

I was planning to post some photos of Ontario Air Ambulances for my next post before I had a request.

The Air Ambulance photos can wait until tomorrow, so I dug up some of my old photos of CP Air DC-8s taken at Pearson Airport in 1979!

I remember the day I took those shots, it was in February and was so cold.

The nice thing was back then you could drive your car down in the ravine between the approach lights.

All these photos were taken with Kodachrome 64 (slide film) with a (belive it or not) 50mm lense.

Ah the good old days when things were so much different!

I thought I would put in a few more I liked!

This is fun! Lets keep the requests going!

Hope you like these shots Johnny!

Enjoy!
Cheers

Gary

Very Unique Bizjet!

Good day everone!

Today I am going to share some photos of a very unique bizjet that first flew in 1957 50 years ago!

Last year I happened to be driving by my local airport and looked in at the ramp as I was driving by.

I couldn't believe my eyes, a aircraft I'd only ever had see pictures of was there in front of my eyes!

I had to go out after work and get some shots of this spectacular looking aircraft!

From every angle this was a beautiful aircraft!

Here are only a few of the photos that I took that day.

A very interesting thing I understand about the Jetstar is the aircrafts whole tail section moves up or down for trim adjustment!

You can see by this photo where the paint isn't on the tail is the section moves! I didn't know this.

Enjoy!

Standing on Guard!

Today I thought I would post some photo's of a Canadian Forces Lockheed Martin CP-140 Aurora!

These aircraft patrol the coast of our country looking for unwanted guests! This aircraft was a visitor to the Muskoka Airshow way back in 1998!

Here is a photo of an Aurora one year later at the Muskoka Airshow in 1999!

Such a beautiful aircraft!

Enjoy!

Welcome To My Blog!!

Hello Everyone

This is my first attempt to show some of my favourite aviation photos!

I have been photographing aircraft of all types for many years now, and have decided that I should share some of my photos with other aviation friends!

I will be alternating my photos and posting every type from Airliners, Bizjets, Military, Private Aircraft & even some Helicopters!

I thought I would start my blog off with one of my favourite type of aircraft the Boeing 737-200!

The airline is also one that has now slipped into the past, and all we have now is memories!

Just a small note, all the photos I post on my blog will be scans of 4" x 6" photos that I have taken, or maybe the odd slide, but they will not be cropped or digitally changed!

Please enjoy my photos and don't hesitate to ask for any requests!

If I have any photos of your request I will definately post what I have!
